Who Do You See?

People have a tendency to judge other people.  We form all sorts of judgments and assumptions about others because we have a need to classify people and put them in certain boxes in an attempt to control our environment.  But what we often fail to realize is that there is big difference between who someone is and how we see them.

Man was created in God’s image…not yours or mine. Our thoughts of someone else don’t change who they are…they merely change who they are to us and how we interact with them. People are mirrors At their very essence they reflect the image of their Creator.  On a mental level (in our minds), they reflect our own thoughts of them back to us. So really our thoughts of others are really reflections of thoughts of ourselves. The beauty of this is that once you see beyond the thoughts you’re projecting onto someone else and are willing to see who they truly are, you will see the image of the Creator within them reflecting who YOU really are.

Thought for the day:

When you look at someone, are you really seeing them or are you seeing your thoughts about them?

Very poignant thought. Everyone does it. You can sometimes see the thoughts written all over their faces whether they good or bad. I struggle with it to. I have a lack of patience for loud unruly people; I know they can sense my distain. I need to constantly remind myself that they too are made in the image of God and are loved by him equally as I am. Thanks for this reminder.
