The Truth Hurts (Sike!)
Imagine having experienced nothing but darkness your entire life, then suddenly being exposed to light. In the beginning, your eyes would feel discomfort when you tried to open them. But the more you open your eyes, then the more accustomed you will become to the light to better see and appreciate what you see. So it is with truth.
The truth doesn’t hurt. It is only your unwillingness to accept it that does. The discomfort you feel after learning the truth (light) is due to your reluctance or refusal to accept it because you are trying so hard to cling to the illusion (darkness) you once believed to be true. The more you open your mind’s eye to seeing and accepting the truth, the more comfortable you become living with it.
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” – John 8:32.
Truth is freedom. Where is the hurt in that? Where is the pain in freedom? Hurt and pain come from bondage. The bondage of darkness and ignorance. The bondage of not knowing. The bondage of not being aware of options so you can make choices. With freedom comes the ability to choose. Light/Truth brightens our perspective and helps us to better maneuver through the mazes of decisions we must make each day. And if you’ve ever tried walking through a maze with your eyes closed, then you know it’s no easy task. Even though the Light is on, you still can’t see your way through because your eyes are closed. Keep them closed and you will continue bumping your head against a brick wall. That’s the truth. Hurts doesn’t it? (The brick wall that is.)
Open your eyes. Be free, my friends.
