Relationships – When Jealousy Compensates For Fears of Being Alone

If you harbour feelings of jealousy have you ever considered the consequences to you and your relationship of doing so? Have you also ever considered the deeper root causes of these feelings? You might be surprised that they are creating the very outcome you most fear, rejection and loneliness. Here’s how you can finally take control of yourself and feel secure and attractive.

Clearly feelings of jealousy compel one to behave in ways that feel and appear unattractive and make one prone to rejection. So why is it that one cannot shake these negative feelings when they take hold? Well because they are there to compensate for a deeper fear the person holds. Often this is the fear of being alone or being abandoned. This fear arises from early childhood experiences of having been abandoned or neglected.

Such experiences remain lodged in the person’s subconscious mind and the feelings of loneliness attached to and generated by them constantly threaten to break loose into conscious awareness. This makes one feel extremely anxious, insecure, and even panicked.

Now individuals try to compensate for this through their relationships. They may choose someone who is at first reliable and willing to make that insecure person feel more secure by fulfilling their need for companionship in the short term. This however usually doesn’t last because the person who is doing the pacifying will eventually start to feel drained, controlled, constricted, stifled and will want to flee.

This is when the insecure partner will start to feel anxious and/or jealous. As we said however this will only expedite the rejection. The only way to rectify this situation is to address and completely extinguish/erase the early memories of rejection/abandonment that live in the subconscious. This will restore emotional health and potentially relationship health if has not suffered too much.
